Price on Application: What Yacht Buyers Should Know

POA is not a price. It is a publication choice. The buyer still needs a current, verified commercial position before making a decision.

Nobel answer

The short answer.

Price on Application, often shortened to POA, means the asking price is not being published openly. It does not by itself indicate whether a yacht is expensive, negotiable, off-market or unavailable. A serious buyer should request the current asking terms, confirm what the price includes and verify whether the commercial position has changed.

POA describes disclosure, not value

A POA listing tells you that the asking price is being provided privately rather than displayed publicly. It does not tell you why the owner or broker chose that approach.

Different sellers use POA for different reasons: discretion, a changing commercial strategy, a newly introduced yacht, a limited marketing programme or simply a preference not to publish the figure.

Ask for the current commercial terms

The useful question is not 'what does POA usually mean?' but 'what are the current verified terms for this yacht today?' That includes the asking price, currency, tax presentation where relevant and any conditions attached to the offer.

Commercial information can change faster than specifications. A buyer should therefore distinguish between an old brochure, an online indication and the position confirmed for the current transaction.

Do not infer negotiability from POA

A hidden asking price is not evidence that an owner will accept a large discount, and a published price is not evidence that an owner will not negotiate. Negotiability is a separate question shaped by the owner's instructions, timing and the specific offer.

A serious offer is easier to evaluate when the buyer has first established the yacht's condition, comparable alternatives and the terms that matter beyond headline price.

Use POA as a prompt for a direct conversation

For qualified buyers, POA can shorten the path to a useful private exchange. The goal should be to obtain enough verified information to decide whether the yacht deserves further time, travel and due diligence.

At Nobel Yachts, a published POA should be read literally: contact us for the current verified commercial position rather than guessing from the absence of a public figure.

Decision questions

Questions buyers often ask.

Does POA mean the yacht is off-market?

No. A yacht can be publicly marketed while its asking price remains private.

Does POA mean the seller is flexible?

Not necessarily. Price disclosure and price flexibility are separate matters.

What should a buyer request first?

Request the current asking terms together with the yacht's verified specification, location and material transaction information.

Nobel Intelligence is general market guidance, not legal, tax, class or technical advice for a specific transaction. Material facts should be verified for the yacht and transaction in question.
